About us

Finding the right medical treatment for each unique patient is what precision medicine is all about. To this end, the IOF consortium PreMeT bridges the gap between genomics and big data analytics by merging the specializations of MEDGEN and the Adrem Data Lab from the University of Antwerp.

The result: an integrated approach that enables patient-tailored care.

MEDGEN is an interfaculty research group of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Biomedical Sciences and Veterinary Medicine and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The general aim of MEDGEN is to enhance genetic and epigenetic research in biomedical sciences by application of state-of-the-art technologies on both constitutional and acquired genetic diseases.

Adrem Data lab is part of the Department of Computer Science and builds on a long-standing reputation ranging from the theoretical foundations to the practical application of data sciences. This results in a broad and recognised excellence in areas ranging from bioinformatics analysis of a range of omics data, data management, data cleaning, data mining, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

How we can help

Precisely by working across interdisciplinary boundaries, the consortium can turn diverse data - and the combination of data - into valuable knowledge and improved patient outcomes.
